On December 17, 1995, after years of preparation, MWR held a groundbreaking ceremony representing the concept advanced to the implementation stage. Gradually the preliminary shape of the construction emerged, and the selection of a professional design team for an international museum began to put Master Hsin Tao’s interpretation of "respect, tolerance, and love" into a concrete exhibition space. We searched for a world-class experienced and reputable company through the learning of local public museums’ experiences, field visits and rigorous review process. In preparation of construction, the exhibition design was very important and challenging because it was the key for the museum to interact with and pass its messages to the audience. In 1998, we decided to give this exhibition design project to Ralph Appelbaum Associates Incorporated (referred to as the RAA), and meantime worked with Dr. Lawrence E. Sullivan from Harvard University Religious Studies Center to present the main six stone-like axes to link with Master Hsin Tao’s founding concept, world religious common themes and architectural space. These six stones are: Reflexivity、Seeing、Passing Time、Walking、Dialectic and Enchantment.
