It is by chance that travelling to the UK and France, this year’s International Fiber Art Biennale is able to be presented in Taiwan, the only exhibition in Asia. Through 55 artist and 72 pieces of art, not only can we see the multiple applications and varieties of paper fiber media among European Artists, but also the personal life experiences, concerns for the natural environment, and philosophical contemplations of the artist behind each work. Through artworks, artists engage with society and express their sentiments and reflections towards nature.

On entering the exhibition space, viewers are first presented with works that express the beginning of life. Through a few twists and turns, quietly displayed at the end of the space, viewers are finally presented with the mournings and remembrance of fading life, from light to heavy. The displays are adjusted according to the characteristic of the work and placed in different locations, either hung or placed on pedestals. Some of the works use illuminated pedestals in order for the light to shine through the fiber pattern; areas where viewers are welcome to touch materials are also set. Activities such as artist workshops and group creativity are also organised throughout the period of the exhibition, enabling crafting experiences to viewers.
