The “Palki Sahib” is the main structure that houses the Guru Granth Sahib. The Guru Granth Sahib is placed on a beautifully decorated throne adorned with pillows, embroidered golden cloth, and other decorative elements, symbolizing the reverence and respect given to the scripture, seen as the embodiment of the spiritual guru. This Palki Sahib is designed in the form of a replica temple or shrine. The five spires of the roof and the cylindrical pillars at the four corners symbolize the roofs and pillars of Sikh temples. On all four sides of the roof and above the pillars, there are eight identical golden-framed Gurmukhi (Punjabi letters) representing the phrase “One True God.”
