This blue Qur'an page is one of the greatest treasures of our museum's collection, and it is over a thousand years old. This page from the Quran originates from the coastal regions of the Mediterranean. It has a wellplanned layout design and has been meticulously transcribed in gold on parchment paper. The calligraphic script used in this Qur'an page is classical Kufic script. It beautifully transcribes verses from the Quran (3:187-194). From the relatively less ornate decorations and the neat arrangement of the text in fifteen lines of Kufic script, it appears to be a valuable example of early Qur’an manuscript.
